Born in the Provençal cauldrons of the 17th century, regulated by an edict of Louis XIV in 1688 – which required the exclusive use of pure vegetable oils – it has always been the simplest, most effective and most respectful cleanser available. And it hasn’t aged a day.

Najel Liquid Marseille Soap embodies this tradition in its most modern and practical form: a fluid, light, ready-to-use texture that retains all the effectiveness and gentleness of ancestral Marseille soap without compromising on naturalness.

How is it made? The most honest there is. Olive and coconut oils are hot saponified in a cauldron, using the traditional Marseille method. This cooking in the cauldron is essential: it allows the glycerine – naturally produced during the saponification reaction – to remain intact in the soap. This natural plant glycerin is one of the most powerful moisturizing active ingredients available, transforming a simple cleansing into a gesture that cares for the skin rather than depleting it.

Saponified olive oil – the soul of Marseille soap – cleanses deeply while nourishing and protecting the epidermis with monounsaturated fatty acids and natural vitamins. Saponified coconut oil takes care of the foaming power: its rich lauric acid content produces a light, creamy lather that gently coats the skin and boosts cleansing efficiency without any harsh sulfated surfactants.

The ingredients list? Minimalist and transparent. Water, saponified vegetable oils, glycerin, natural preservatives. No sulfates, no synthetic fragrances, no silicones, no controversial ingredients. 99% ingredients of natural origin. That’s all there is to it. And that’s precisely why it works.

The foam is light – and deliberately so. At Najel, we’re not looking for abundant foam.
